WHAT IS ORGANIC? Organic can be defined as simply as "zero pollution, nothing artificial and eco-friendly". "Zero Pollution" means that food is grown organically from a natural farming system that does not damage the environment by totally omitting the use of pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilisers. "Nothing artificial" means food that is produced and processed without the addition of artificial coloring, preservatives, or any type of chemical enhancers, and free from GMO (Genetically Modified Organism). "Eco-friendly" is achieved when the food is produced with zero pollution and non-artificial means. Organic farming relies on the development of soil fertility via the encouragement of natural biological cycles through crop rotation and the use of organic fertilisers, which may be organic animal manure or organic plant compost. |
